Method 2: Chin-up bar and gravity boots

Again, you’re going to have to go down to the park but this time, you’ll be using the chin up bar. Now, you’ll be using gravity boots to hang yourself by your feet. Use a chin-up bar that is high enough so that when inverted, your head is again at least a few feet clear off the ground. Just like the first method, you’re going to have to bring your textbooks again or weights.

For those of you who don’t know what ‘gravity boots’ are, well, have you seen the movie ‘Deuce Bigalow, Male gigolo’? Starring Rob Schneider? No, not the sequel. It’s the first one. Rings a bell? Well, do you remember this scene where he was trying to hang himself upside down but ended up smashing the fish tank? Yes, that’s the one. Gravity boots allow you to hang upside down more comfortably by hooking your feet to a bar.

Ok, here is a vid of some guy hanging from a bar.

You can get a pair for under US$50, I think. Just look around. Oh and if I were you, I wouldn’t buy a second-hand pair. I mean, you don’t know exactly how the previous owner has treated his gravity boots. While they may still look good, they might just give way as soon as you invert yourself and c’mon, do you really think those boots are ‘only used once, I promise’ as claimed by the owner? After all, you’re going to hang yourself upside down from a bar. Be smart and just invest in a new pair from a reliable company, assuming that you do decide to buy one. Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against second hand goods but when it concerns your safety, it’s best to just get new stuff. A split skull is not a good look, my dear friends.

Pros:

  •        Don’t have to worry ‘bout falling off unless you bought a second-hand pair.
  •         Can hang for longer durations.

Cons:

  •          Have to spend money on a pair of gravity boots.
  •          Might be a tad inconvenient, having to go down to the park, especially since you’ll need to do this at least twice a day.
  •          Just like the monkey bars, the chin-up bar might be used by other people. So, you might have to wait.

N.B. Instead of using the chin-up bar at the park, you can also get one of those portable chin-up bars that you can set up at home, as seen in the vid However, if you don't have money to spare on a chin-up bar, then just use the one at the park.
